Is it worth going out today?

Snowpace scores the day out of 100 at the places you ski and snowshoe. It reads the mountain forecast and judges it for the activity you're doing. You get one number, the best hours and the reason in a sentence.

Try a sample day

Today, hour by hour

Made-up weather, scored by the app's own engine with its starting settings. You can change them in the app.

Same weather, different day

A powder day for one sport is a slog for another

Fresh snow that makes a downhill day bogs down a skate ski. Every place gets its own score for each activity, measured against the temperature, wind and new snow you said you like.

Pick another sample day above to compare.

How it decides

Eight things go into every score

Each one is weighted for the activity. Four of them are measured against what you tell the app: your ideal temperature, how much wind you'll put up with, how much fresh snow you want, and how you feel about snow falling while you're out.

What else you'll find

The best hours

Today, hour by hour, with the best three hours in a row marked. Tap an hour for its temperature, wind and any snow or rain.

Five days ahead

Forecast lays out every place you've saved against the next five days. Tap any square for the detail on that day.

Better nearby

On a poor day at your home hill, places nearby that score better are listed right under it, with how far away they are.

See it for yourself

Where a place has a webcam of its own, a recent picture from windy.com sits under the hours. It's there to look at and never changes a score.

Private by design

There's no Snowpace server to send anything to

The app talks straight to the public services it uses, and only asks them about ski areas.

  • No accountNothing to sign up for, nothing to sign in to.
  • No ads, no analytics, no trackingNone are built in, and none will be.
  • Your location stays on your phoneIt's used to show how far away each place is and is never sent anywhere.
  • Public data, creditedForecasts from Open-Meteo, ski areas from OpenSkiData, webcam pictures from windy.com.

Snowpace only scores the weather

It doesn't know whether lifts are running or trails are groomed, so every place links to its operator's web site. Check it, and the avalanche forecast for the area, before you go.
